BusFusion 2022

With Covid restrictions being eased we were able to attend this great Canadian VW event after a 3 year hiatus. BusFusion is one of the largest VW bus camping events and is held in the beautiful town of Almonte which is also famous for being known as the home of James Naismith - the inventor of basketball.

As this was a fairly long drive from Toronto, I arranged a small convoy from the Toronto area with some fellow VW van/bus club members and made arrangements to spend an overnight before the event beside the Rideau Canal. We started off with 3 Vanagons and had as many as 6 join our convoy and camp.

I believe one of the benefits of these sometimes "underpowered" vehicles is that the journey there can always be as much fun as your destination. Here are some pictures taken before we made it to Almonte.

We arrived early at BusFusion the next morning and was able to pick a nice spot by the river to set up our home for a weekend of fun.
We brought our Kayak so we could all enjoy some water activities.

We also brought our bikes to explore the nearby area.

Hanging with the legend himself.

Of course the actual VW event had some great activities as well.

As Brooke is now 8 years old, I gave her a little project to sell some VW themed jewellery I purchased. She helped design her little "store" and turned out to be a great little salesperson selling 6 pendants and a keychain.

This will probably be our last BusFusion event but I'm happy we all could enjoy it one last time as the people, activities, and good times will be remembered for years to come.

Buses by the Beach.

The camping season is short in Canada and with Covid, it has been even shorter but that doesn't mean we haven't been able to enjoy some incredible camping opportunities. Buses by the Beach is a newly created event that I hope will be the first of many years to come. Unfortunately we were unable to make the first night of camping but we definitely made the remaining 2 days worthwhile. Here is our initial camping setup.

This was an amazing venue with tons of exciting activities - beginning with a fun swim in Lake Erie.

Then it was time for some classic Ladder Toss.
The mandatory VW Tie Dye shirts.

Cruising in her "modified" VW.

Tire swing fun - check out the video HERE
Lots of fun for all ages as well.

Here's also a quick video of some of the buses returning from the CRUISE

I always seem to attend these events and fail to take pictures of all the amazing VW's I see so this time I did my best to go around and document as many VW's as I could....hope you enjoy and can appreciate the passion and camaraderie that I have for these amazing vehicles.

And some very rare "unicorns" that I witnessed......

When we got home after this amazing weekend you would think my family had enough of VW's but they ended up joining me for one last meet with some newer VW's in our 59 ragtop to finish off an amazing Labour day weekend! Till next time.....
