Valens Lake Conservation Area

With the winter weather approaching we managed to get in a short trip to Valens Lake and were very happy with our decision! A short 45 minute drive from home brought us to this 300 hectare mecca for campers, anglers and outdoor lovers.

We arrived early in the evening and had some time to enjoy a nice bike ride around the park and lake.

One of the great things about owning our Vanagon is that it makes both a comfortable place to hang out and a fun place for the whole family, here's a day and night time comparison.

It was a cold night and choosing an electric site to run our small heater was a good idea as the upper bunk was definitely pretty chilly. We do have a Mr. Buddy Heater but it was nice to be able to run our ceramic heater without any concerns of replacing the propane cylinders. We were able to do some star gazing at night and in the morning we awoke to a nice covering of frost.

They informed us that the lake water level was recently lowered but that didn't stop us from getting in a few fun trips in the Kayak.

This was a short overnight trip and we look forward to visiting again because it's so close and open all year round. On our way home we stopped at a local farm for some delicious butter tarts and apples. Till next time!
