One of the keys to keeping these old air-cooled engines running - fresh oil!
As this was a far trip and I wanted to arrive at the event early, I decided to break up the journey there and arrived the night before at the Beveridges Locks along the Rideau Canal Lock system.
This hidden gem of a campsite was right along the waterway at the edge of the Lower Rideau Lake. Normally open to boaters utilizing the lock system for overnight stays, I received special permission to spend the night. It was also quite the bargain at only $4.90 per person and featured very clean bathrooms, water and warm showers.
We woke early for the 30 minute drive to Almonte Ontario and BusFusion. Here is our setup for the next few days right by the river.
Some of the highlights of our stay included biking:
Swimming...
Driving...
Kite Flying...
Eating...Hanging out in the van...
And of course making new friends...
It certainly wasn't easy camping by myself and having to look after both girls but was definitely worth it and we hope to make this a yearly family event in the future. On Sunday it was time to pack up and head back home, till next time!
